Liz -NorthernRose dance company

Liz Collier - Founder and Artistic Director

Liz founded NorthernRose in 2010 as well as being a performer,teacher,choreographer and physical theatre practitioner. Through NorthernRose her aim is to bring people together and to enjoy all the benefits of the arts in a wider sense.

Liz has performed with Shakespeare's Globe in 'The Tempest' and 'The Storm' with Mark Rylance and The Kosh, and has also been an artist with The David Glass Ensemble for two seasons performing as 'The Thing' in 'Gormenghast' at BAC and UKTour. Liz performed in AL Webber's 'Phantom' (Hamburg Co) and with Robert North's 'Snowman' at Birmingham Rep and Edinburgh Festival Theatres. Liz has also worked with other choreographers,directors,artists including Tim Carroll, Wayne McGregor,Fleur Darkin, David Needham, Julie Lincoln, Julie Bowers, Mary Goodhew, Peter Schofield, Sita Popat, and on many advertising and research projects including work with Sisters of the Cross and Passion, Circus Space and Great Ormand St. Hospital/notschool. 

A BAHons graduate of Leeds University/Bretton Hall, trained at The Royal Ballet School and Northern Ballet School (ARAD/TC), Liz has directed and choreographed on mainstream projects, community ventures, with specialist skills, vocational and local dance schools and in private education.
Originally from Bolton, Liz gives thanks to Anna Christie School Of Dance, established in Bolton in 1965 by Ann Collier.

Amy- NorthernRose dance Company

Amy Liptrott (Associate Director)

Amy began her career as a performer, graduating from the RNCM and playing around the country as a professional harpist. Her work involved collaboration with composers and writers and included working on new music/theatre pieces as well as more traditional repertoire and education. She played for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Concert Orchestra and the Halle along with various other groups -including Bridgewater Hall, Chethams, Royal Academy of Music, RNCM, Royal Exchange, Clitheroe Castle.

Amy has also been Head of Drama and a drama practitioner in schools as well as directing major school productions and devised work with students, engaging with local artists to enhance this work. She went on to study and gain an MA in Theatre Directing at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Whilst there she assisted and directed several productions including the Mountview entry for the Sam Wannamaker Festival at The Globe and White Rose by Peter Arnott. 

Amy has also worked with David Thacker at Bolton Octagon and Assisted Elizabeth Newman on various new writing projects and work. She is also developing new work with new writers.




Amy Berry (Co Worker)

Born in Bolton, Amy trained with the Anna Christie Dance School (R.A.D) and gained a Performing Arts Degree from Salford University. Daughter of local entertainer Tony Berry of the Houghton Weavers Amy has collaborated in various community and regional projects in the NW as a singer, dancer and actress. Amy has taught in nursery and local dance schools as well as on mainstream projects.

Theatre credits includes European tours with English Theatre Company, performances at the Kings Head Theatre, The Courtyard Theatre and Canal Cafe, special educational needs shows for Upside Out and several theatre in education tours. Amy has also been in various short films, commercials and television work. She has collaborated with both Northern Rose dance Co. projects and ACSD performances throughout her artistic life and career.

Sam Bruce (Co Worker)

It was fifteen years ago after the birth of her second child that Pilates found Sam. It was a life-changing discovery and after many years of Pilates practice, Sam enrolled on the STOTT Pilates Essential and Intermediate Matwork Course. Sam passed her Certification Exam for Advanced Matwork and Intermediate Reformer in October 2013, gaining 95%.

As well as teaching Matwork and Reformer Pilates classes at leading health clubs in the Bolton and Blackburn area, Sam teaches privately from her home studio in Bolton. Sam has been an Advanced Personal Trainer for four years, working in private practice in and around Bolton and Greater Manchester. She specialises in strength and functional training as well as nutrition for weight management and sports performance. Sam has seen amazing results in performance, agility and flexibility in clients due to the application of Pilates principles to other forms of exercise.

Sam is an enthusiastic, approachable and empathetic teacher and hopes that her calm and patient manner will inspire clients to feel and enjoy whole-body health and whole-body commitment: Sam is also a busy mother of three.
As well as being fully insured, Sam is listed as a Level 3 Instructor on The Register of Exercise Professionals as well as being on the worldwide register for Stott-Certified Pilates instructors.
